Canon CS Lide 110 and Windows 7

I have purchased the Canon CS (CanonScan) LiDE 110 scanner for my Windows 7 computer since my old scanner is no longer supported in Windows 7.

I am happy to say that it works.  Furthermore, it seems that the Windows 7 drivers were released after the launch of Windows 7.

When I look online, there are two companies that I know of  that sell a 5.25″ drive bay accessory (storage) box.  Scythe’s “Kama Kabinet”, http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/075/bayrafter25rb_detail.html, and Thermaltake’s iBox, http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1156&ID=1486.

Unfortunately, I have specific requirements for my accessory (storage) box.  My requirements are:

Ubuntu software backwards compatible

When it comes to Ubuntu versions such as 10.10 Maverik, 10.04 Lucid, 9.10 Karmic, 9.04 Jaunty, 8.10 Intrepid, 8.04 Hardy, etc, people often will try to install packages from say Ubuntu 10.10 Maverik on an Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid desktop.  Unfortunately, this may not  work.
