Making a purchase at MTGMintCard.com

July 23, 2011

I decided to purchase a common/uncommon 2012 set x 4.

I should have paid the extra $2 for careful shipping since the cards were slightly bent on one corner from rough shipping.  In any case, the price is reasonable.

http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/ is a store that compares magic the gathering cards prices from different vendors giving a high and a low price point for each card.

It seems that when it comes to purchasing singles, http://www.mtgmintcard.com/ may not offer the cheapest prices.  Although, they do offer complete sets.  http://www.blackborder.com offers complete common sets.

Therefore, comparison shop.  It is always nice to go to a one-stop-shop, but better deals can often be found by looking around.  Just be wary of online fake stores and/or outrageous shipping and handling charges.

I made a purchase at http://www.mtgmintcard.com/. Seeing that they have bulk Magic the Gathering cards at cheap prices, I decided to give them a try.

I ordered the pack of 1600 cards. I did not have any preference on what cards that they would have given me. Just something that my kids could play with.  Furthermore, they must be all in English.

Placing the order is straightforward, but I have run into an issue with the shipping.

The carrier left the box in front of the door on the porch in plain sight. Fortunately, the box was not stolen.

In any case, calling the carrier and asking them to leave the package at the depot, so that you can pick it up is an option that one should consider.

I am unsure how other carriers will deal with undeliverable packages, but in my particular situation, he/she just left it on the porch.

  1. The cards were in near mint condition. Furthermore, the number of cards for each color were pretty close to being equal in count. A small set of artifacts and other odd cards that did not fit into one color were included. I ordered the 1600 Magic The Gathering Superb Starter Card Lot.

I expected a random set of inexpensive cards since some of the rares and uncommons are about the same price as the commons. I think the most expensive card in the box is worth 25 cents on their website.

$40(cards)+$25(shipping) for 1600 cards works out to about 4 cents each. The card stores around my area charge anywhere from 5 to 10 cents for each individual land. The commons go for 10 cents each. Therefore, it is a good value.

Although the cost per card will be more, I think getting commons and uncommons in one set x 4 is a better option. My kids were disappointed when they only have 1 or 2 of their favorite cards.

  2. who gives a f*** about the carrier? How does this affect the service from mtgmintcard.com? were the cards what you expected? Was it a good value?
