I did some printing, and found that my documents were being printed past the top of the page. When I look at the document on screen, it shows that it fits on one page. Therefore, I tried pushing the document down, but only ended up with the document being printed on 2 pages. This is a serious problem that requires a serious solution.
Printing too far up on the page
My solution is to, first, make the page longer. Therefore, I changed the default page size from 8.5×11 (letter) to 8.5×14 (legal). Second, increase the top margin or push the document down. Printing the 1 page document now fits on 1 page instead of 2. Furthermore, the paper used is 8.5×11. Therefore, if the document is being printed too far up on the page, fooling the printer into thinking that the paper being printed on is longer will not hurt.
Printing too far down on the page
NOTE: This is only if setting the top margin of a document to zero does not fix the problem.
This is something that should not happen. I do know that various printers will feed the paper more slower or faster depending on the type of paper chosen. Therefore, the solution can be to just change the paper type in the printer settings. The article for this can be found at http://aprivatebeach.com/blog/2009/12/prevent-laser-inkjet-printer-paper-jams/.
If the program used seems to be at fault, you should be able to increase the top margin to push the document to the top of the second page. The document will have a blank first page printed out, but the document should print perfectly on every page after that.
Another option is to try cutting and pasting the document to another program such as notepad, MS Word, OpenOffice Writer, etc. Printing the document from that program may print fine. If the document does print fine from another program such as notepad, the offending software is most likely the problem.
Printing too far to the left or right
NOTE: This is only if setting the left and right margins of a document do not fix the problem.
This can be easily worked around by moving the left or right guides on the paper holder. If the document is being printed too far to the left, move the left guide more to the left and place the paper right up against the left guide. If the document is being printed too far to the right, move the right guide more to the right and place the paper right up against the right guide.

In some cases, one program may cause the document to print badly, but another will not. Therefore, copy and paste the document in a program that you know works correctly. Sometimes the problem is not the printer but the program being used.
Why is the printer acting funny
In most cases, the problem is not the printer, but the application being used. For example, Firefox and Open Office may print documents incorrectly while Notepad prints fine. A bug that needs to be fixed in a patch or a future release. Therefore, I always recommend using another program when printing documents that do not come out correctly.
