When children enroll in science courses in high school, some enroll in it for fun. Therefore, why is it that that they do not become the next budding Einstein’s?
Like many of the other jobs that require a benefactor, a scientist will have to submit a research proposal, and convince a benefactor to give him/her some cash to begin research.
Unfortunately, a scientist will have to convince a benefactor that he/she will benefit from the findings and/or the final product.
When it comes to science, there is no guarantee that money will continue to flow into the project. There maybe changes, and the new benefactor may decide that the research project is not feasible.
Therefore, a scientist’s job is dependent on grants and donations. If the scientist is a good salesperson, he/she may be able to continue working. If he/she is not, the scientist may have to work for free.
It is no wonder people flock to certain programs. Having a job that provides a steady income stream all year round is better than hoping that you will have a job tomorrow.
It is an added bonus when he/she can keep his/her job during a recession.
Therefore, the scientists of tomorrow will most likely not be geniuses. The geniuses are too smart for that. They will go where there is a stable flow of cash in both good and bad times.
So, where are all the “stable jobs” going? They are going to the geniuses.
